Comments: I found on your sight, #110 Frank Kistler and children.
I purchased an 1880 house in Logansport that the census records show
Frank Kistler bought in 1906. I'm looking for any information about this family for my own records on the house.

Neva,

Thanks for the e-mail. Sounds like you had a great time in Lancaster. I
was there in November and eight siblings of my G-grandfather Glick that I
didn't know existed. Just to run down the ways my database is tied to the
Kistlers, let's look at Henry 1776.

Hannah married Andrew Cline. The Cline Cemetery in Royal Centre is named
for him and I have a brother and sister buried there. Over 50% of those
buried there are in my file. I'm guessing that Hannah's son Henry married
a Minthorn, not Minhorn. My Dad's family came to Boone Twp. in 1840 and
stayed. My Mother's Mother was a Conn. My Dad's mother was a Glick. Other
names in my file include Wildermuth, Wisely, Bingaman, Holmes, Vernon,
Schlegemelich, Fry, Lytle, Esterbrook, Beckley, Hendee, and Vangundy.

You can imagine how excited I was to find your file on World Family Tree.
You did a lot of work. Was the original work yours?

Since I started tying the Kistler's in I have been able to add a lot of
marriage dates. I live in Indianapolis and have the availability of the
Indiana State Library. They have a large genealogy section. In the
thirties, the WPA did a lot of work indexing marriage, birth, and death
records in most of Indiana's counties, including Cass, Pulaski, and
White. It is a great resource.

I have a couple of questions about people and a clarification.

1. Jonas Kistler 1805 and Charlotte Kennel were married in 1864. they
have a son, Thomas J. , who is said to have been born 30 January 1963,
and married Carrie D. Kistler. However, Jonas Kistler 1825 married Amy
Simmons (by the way, her name was Amelia) and had a son Thomas J., also
born 30 January 1863. It seems odd that two children one the uncle of the
other would be born on the same day. It also seems that either Charlotte
was much younger than Jonas 1805 or maybe the children are attached to
the wrong parents. Do you have any further info on Thomas J.?

2. By the way, I think Jonas 1825's brother Thomas (Abt. 1837) married
Sarah Hendee on 21 August 1853. I don't know yet who her parents were.
Need to check the 1850 census for Sarah as a child.

3. Henry M. and Mary Hester Kistler had a daughter Rebecca Ann who
married Christopher Bingaman. Daniel and Medici Kistler had a daughter
Almira who married C. C. Bingaman. These are the same man. He married
Almira 14 Sep 1851. She died 21 January 1864 and about April 1864 he
married Rebecca Ann, a first cousin of Almira.

4. Do you have any idea who David Glick's parents were? He was married to
Lydia Kistler daughter of Henry 1776.

I am probably done for the week. We leave Thursday for Greenville, SC.
Our son graduates from Bob Jones University on Saturday.

By the way, this fall we will be coming down to spend a week at Vacation
Village at Weston! Maybe we can get together.

Hello Jay,

Again, I regret that I missed the opportunity to talk with you both
yesterday and today.

This past Sunday members of the Kistler family joined together for
our annual reunion in Lancaster, Ohio. Janice Kistler from
Bloomington, IN. was to bring her mother-in-law but due to last
minute changes was unable to do so. Cheryl and her mother-in-law,
Irene, from Alabama were there. I mention these two because their
ine branches off from ours.

I also received an e-mail from Terry Smith in Kokomo IN. that traces
his line through Henry and recently located his grave in the Old
Betzer Cemetery near Carroll, Ohio.

I will be delighted to update the records with any additional
> information that you send me.

Cordially,
Neva

Neva, I'm searching, and researching my Butler family tree.
And following Hiram Butler, my Great-Great-Great Grandfather
Hiram, born 14 June 1790 in Warren (Columbia) County, Georgia
to Noble Butler and Susannah Beale Butler. After his father's death
in 1799, Hiram and his mother, Susannah and some his brothers and
sisters, migrate to Indiana. Settling in Wayne County.
Hiram married Margaret "Peggy" Woodkirk on 8 July 1812 and were
the parents to Martha, Mary "Polly", Levi, Joseph, and Susannah in this
first marriage. My Great-Great-Grandmother Mary "Polly" Butler Oliver
Troutman, was born 9 October 1816 in the Richmond Township, Wayne
County. Margaret "Peggy" Woodkirk Butler, died some time about in
1825(?) And Hiram remarried Hanna or Hannah Jordan on 17 January 1827, and
they were the parents of Enos, Rachel, Margaret, Edith, Jane, Miria,
Sally, and Minerva Ellen (listed as infant), as I have noted from LDS IGI
information sheets and the book, Noble Butler (1704-1799) of Bristol, England,
Philadelphia, and Chester County, PA and Families, published by the Butler (Family)
Society Association in 1982. [A copy and/or copies in the LDS Library at S
alt
Lake City and a microfiche
copy I have on loan at the Family History Center
at Greenville, SC].
I have searched and know of Hiram Butler living in Cass County, Indiana
until his death on 16 October 1844 [On the 1840 Census for Cass County,
and Hannah Butler in the Noble Township with other Butler family members

in other neighboring townships on the 1850 Census for Indiana], but I've
had no success in locating his grave site. Cass County Website has some
cemeteries recorded, but not all, especially a Butler site.
On the IGI sheet for Hiram and Hannah Butler, the 2nd and 3rd child
(Rachel and Margaret) are noted in the place of birth column as Ohio and the
rest as Indiana. So, I know little of Hiram and family from Wayne County until
Cass County. I'd appreciated any information and communications with reference to Our
Family

Tree and relatives here and there.
Thank you, John G.

Reply: Hello, John,
According to my records I show a Mary Butler as a daughter of Hiram and Hannah Butler also. She was born in Fulton Co., Ind and died in Headlee,

Ind. Mary married William Monroe Kistler who was from Canaan Twp., Marion Co., Ohio.

Now I realize this is not much help to you in your search for more data on Hiram but I thought I would send you the information that I possess.

Best regards,
Neva

Hello again,
Thanks for the additional info on my Kistlers. I forgot to put in my message
yesterday that James M. Kistler died 6-21-1923, I beleive in Cass Co. In. and
Sarah E. Butler Kistler died 1-17-1915 in Fairmont, In. Sarah was the
daughter of Hiram Butler and Hannah Jordan Butler. Also the 1900 census of
Cass Co. In. list James M. Kistler's occupation as a Butcher, and Sarah as a
Homemaker. Yes I live in Indiana, Jeffersonville is accros the river from Louisville,
Ky. I work at General Electric in Louisville, and am hoping for early
retirement in June 2000, I have 31 years service, so I hope I can go, I am 54
yrs old.  Well I am going to visit the web site that you sent me, thanks
again, talk with you later.... Tom

Hello,
Good to hear from you, yes your info is correct, they are the Kistlers I am
looking for, I do have some info on them after coming to Indiana. They
located in  Logansport, Cass Co. In.. James Monroe Kistler married Sarah
Butler on 10-10-1858, In Cass Co. her DOB was 3-27-1840.
Children:
Emma Angeline Kistler, b.6-19-1860 d.6-8-1928 m. Stewart Cummings 11-4-1883
Martha Ellen Kistler, b. 12-14-1862 d. 2-7-1863
Alice Ann Kistler, b. 3-27-1866, m. Edward K. Myers
Nina Kistler, b. 1868, died infancy.
Charles L. Kistler, b. 8-19-1870,  m. Lucenda Fitzpatrick

Pearl Maud Kistler, b. 12-27-1876, m. James E. Howard,

The 1900 census of Cass Co. listed only Charles living with father and
mother, and a granddaugher, Tresa Riley age 18, this is my Father's mother,
she is the Daughter of Emma Angeline Kistler,
I am not sure how the name Riley came to be, I could
never find anything on a marriage of Emma to a Riley,
still searching. I am told the Kistlers came from Switzerland
around 1760, a lady in Logansport, Barbara Wolfe does genealogy, and
she has more info on the Kistlers, from James Monroe on down. I would
appreciate any info you have about David Kistler, and his ancestors.
I am putting my Email address in this, in case it doesn't show up in the message
: my name is Thomas L. Price,
and my Email is halfprice69@cs.com
Thank you for your help, hope my info helps you.
I very much enjoyed viewing the info you have on the Kistler's, and I am
proud to be a part of it, waiting to hear from you.....Tom

Please stop by the Bloom site and post a querie, using dates and locations.  I get quite a few hits to the site, and I'm sure you'll eventually find others who are researching the same lines that you haven't corresponded with before.  I'm curious, too, as to where you link in or if you can provide any further info for the database

you want me to list you?    or your sources?

Thank you are you interested in more information on Mary Dunnuck ancestors?

Are you a descendant.

Wanted to let some of you know about Jim Kistler, the developer of the
Kistler site.  About the time he completed the Web Site, he developed severe
headaches - worse than any migraines he had ever had.  He has been tested and
tested and still no known cause.  Monday he goes to the University of Iowa
Medical Center in Iowa City to see if neurologists there could find a cause
or could give him any relief.  I told him I would ask others to pray.  God
can direct you how to pray.  I know he has a lot more he would like to do
with the Web site and I hope he will be able to.  I sure have appreciated
what he has done for the Kistlers.

Neva,

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that we had a great trip.  We visited the town of Kempton, PA where Kistler Valley Rd. runs through.  We talked to boys fishing in Kistler's Creek and visited the old Lutheran Church that John George Kistler helped establish in 1747.  There was a couple that lived across the road.  They had a key and met us in the cemetary and opened the church for us.  It was a great thrill to actually stand in the church and see the beautiful carpentry and the stained glass windows that were placed in memory of several Kistler's.  We bought a souvenier at the church (a place mat with the history of the church depicted on the front and back).  A little something to commemorate our trip to the Church.  We took lots of pictures, I'll make sure you get some.  We also ate lunch in Kistler's Family Restaurant in a town called New Tripoli.  Just a few miles from Kempton.  We talked to several townspeople in Kempton.  The name of Kistler is widely recognized and we kind of felt like royalty.  Along Kistler Valley Rd. we found the monument that is dedicated to John George Kistler and his wife Anna Dorothea.  We had our picture taken beside it.  We had quite a grand trip.  We laughed a lot and were just thrilled to be there.  I just wish Dad was alive to know that we made this trip.  Sherry will probably share some of the information and pictures with your mother, too.  They talk quite frequently.  I wish I lived nearer to your mother, I would probably make it a habit to visit with her.   But with living in Buckeye Lake and working in Columbus, I just don't get the time to do all the things I want to do.

I also want to update you on some of the dates and such on your Kistler website.  There were a couple of birthdates and other dates that I wanted to give you.  I'll have to do that later.  Well, I'll stay in touch and you do the same.  My husband and I are getting ready to take my son, Joel back down to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  He was home for the weekend.  He doesn't take his vehicle down so we have to get him back and forth occasionally.

Take care,

Love, Dee Dee

P.S. Sherry, Marilyn and Mick say Hello!!!!
Neva,

Hi,  "double cousin" how are you.  In searching through the internet today I stumbled onto your website.  It's great that you've taken the time to put this all together for the world to see.  I've always been strongly interested in our family history and I never get tired of reading about it.

We are all traveling to Kutztown, PA tomorrow morning.  Mick and his wife, Sherry, Marilyn and me and my husband Jeff are getting up and leaving by 6am to start our trip.  We're staying two nights and just traveling the countryside around Kutztown in Berks County to see what we can see.  We're going to visit the church that John Georg helped establish in the mid-1700s.  I was there about 10 years ago a few years after Teddy and Earl made the trip.  I didn't get to spend the time I wanted to.  But this time we're going to see what we want to see.

Just thought I'd drop you a line and let you know that I found your site.  I put my email on the list.  I can't wait till your site is finished.

Well, it's late and I better get some sleep.  We are rising early in the am.  Keep in touch.

Love ya,
Dee Dee (Kistler) Keefe

 Hello,

My name is Larry Skeen, I obtained your E-mail
address from your roots web inquiry on the Kistler
Family.

I have my fathers family line going back to the
1200's but on my mothers side I have hit a brick wall.
Her name is Hazel Mae Kistler she was born in 1914 in
Topeka Kansas as was her father and Grandfather, both
had the first name of Charles.

Do you or do you know of any other Kistlers from
Kansas?
                      Regards,

                      Larry from Kernville Ca.

Nancy,
I have been having a great deal of difficulty with my email
service and only today received your email.among several hundred.   I have
sent all the copies of the family tree that I had prepared but if you will
bare with me a little longer I will make additional copies.  Not to continue
with too many sad stories but while I was on vacation Circuit City removed
everything from my computer as their way of servicing it.  Even with backups
I have found this to be a lengthy procedure and one of the items removed was
the family tree, family crest, etc.
So don't give up on me . . . I will put them in the mail ASAP.
No charge.   My pleasure.

Neva,
My name is Nancy Kemp Kistler and I am helping my brother in law, Father Leonard Kistler, search the Kistler family tree.  I read your posting in Gen Forum and would love to have a copy of the family tree.  In German would be great as my brother in law is able to read and understand German and that would mean so much to him.  I would, of course, pay any expenses associated with this.  Fr Len has traveled to Germany several times, meeting with our distant cousins in and around Rieken Germany.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Neva, thank you so much for the copy of the family tree.  I tried to blow this up to make it easier to read but was unable to clear it up.  Is your copy also difficult to read.  Father Leonard is very anxious to get his hands on it to see if he can put together several links but I explained to him how difficult it was to read.  If your copy is legible could I have him contact you to decipher the information?

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Nancy,
A copy of the Kistler family tree goes in the mail tomorrow morning.  I hope it meets with your brother-in-law's expectations.  If time ever permits I would be interested to learn about the cousins in Rieken, Germany.
An added note . . .  My family lives in Lancaster, Ohio, which is about 30 miles southeast of Columbus.

From one Kistler to another,

Neva,

Received your package while on vacation-- thank you for the beautiful

Hi Neva,

I have quite a few Charles Kistlers in my
database but the enclosed two are the only
consecutive generations named Charles that I
have.  I checked all of them and none refer to
Kansas.

If you haven't tried already, check the web page
at www.kistler-genealogy.com      You may find
help there.

I'll put you in my Kistler address list if I find
anything wonderful, you will get it.  Happy

: I am a Kistler.

I have just glanced over your Kistler family site and many of the names
looked slightly familiar to me.  The only info i have on my fathers side
of the family is that his name was Wilbur William Augustus Kistler born
in Bloomsburg, PA.  His father was Wilbur Augustus and married Hermine
I. Pruden.  His father was Franklin Vanderslice Kistler married Gertrude
Rhodomoyer.  His father was John Kistler 5/13/1831 to 10/7/1892 married
Louisa Vanderslice1839-19-30.  Do you have any info on this branch at
all?  Looking forward to hearing anything you may have.

Hosman connections?

Hello, I am looking for my great-great grandfather Henry J. Hosman's two
brothers (do not know their names were) that they all came to America from
Germany as I believe it was somewhere in 1850's.  Do you think your family
member of Issac Hosman could be one of them?  Is there any connection
somehow?

Hi,

Saw your entry on World Connect.  I don't know if I've spoken with you or
not, but I'm interested in the Wharton/Jordan connection.  My grandmother was
Opal Pearl Jordan, daughter of Amos Gibson Jordan/Martha Wharton.  I remember
hearing the Kistler name as I was growing up, but wasn't interested in
genealogy at that time and didn't know the connection.  Would be happy to
share what information I have.

My name is Karen Kistler ( My maiden name is Karen Averill dob. 4/22/76), I was wondering how would I go about updating the family tree. My Husband's father is Mickey Kistler. My husband's name is Scott Eugene Kistler (dob. 11/17/73) and I believe you have him listed as two different people. Scott and Eugene, this is incorrect since Mickey Kistler only has one son Scott Eugene. We have three kids
Julia Milayna, dob. 8/12/95 ; Dylan Scott, dob. 12/5/97 ;  Garrett James, dob. 12/27/99. If you need any other information or you can tell me how to help update the family tree please give me an e-mail at snk205@ohiohills.com
